"Ship Tilted, We Were Thrown": Crew Member On UK Tycoon Mike Lynch Yacht

A crew member on Mike Lynch's yacht has spoken of being thrown into the water and efforts to rescue passengers as a storm sank the vessel off Sicily this month, in a disaster that killed the British tech tycoon and six other people. Matthew Griffiths, who was on watch duty on the night of the tragedy, told investigators that the crew members did everything they could to save those on board the Bayesian, according to comments reported by Italian news agency Ansa. Griffiths, the boat's captain James Cutfield, and ship engineer Tim Parker Eaton have been placed under investigation by the Italian authorities for potential manslaughter and shipwreck. Being investigated does not imply guilt and does not mean formal charges will follow. "I woke up the captain when the wind was at 20 knots (23 mph/37 kph). He gave orders to wake everyone else," Ansa quoted Griffiths as saying. "The ship tilted and we were thrown into the water. Then we managed to get back up and trie

The research, conducted by a team from China, analyzed the drinking habits of over 400,000 people in the UK. According to the study, men who consume alcohol at least five times a week have twice the risk of developing gout compared to those who drink less than once a week. For women, the study indicates that more frequent alcohol consumption is associated with a moderately elevated risk of gout. French Museum Invites Nude Visitors To Explore History Of Naturism In Europe

A museum in southern French city Marseille is inviti naturist lifestyle by wandering its halls in the nude. Why Trump Is Threatening To Pull Out Of Debate With Kamala Harris

The campaigns of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris clashed on Monday over next month's U.S. presidential debate, with the vice president's team seeking a return to open microphones while her Republican rival threatened to pull out entirely, suggesting the previously agreed-upon ABC network was biased. "Why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?" Trump, who is making his third bid for the White House, wrote in a social media post late Sunday night that also accused the network of bias. "Stay tuned!!!" Harris spokesperson Brian Fallon said on Monday the vice president's campaign wanted the broadcaster to keep the candidates' microphones on throughout the event, not muted when their opponent was speaking as in the last presidential debate. So-called "hot mics" can help or hurt political candidates, catching off-hand comments that sometimes were not meant for the public. "The Vice President is ready to deal with Trump

National Conference chief Omar Abdullah, shortly after thrashing out what he called a "tough" seat-sharing deal with ally Congress, said he was surprised that the BJP, which prides itself on its discipline, failed to announce its candidates without a hitch.  "For them to have furniture broken in their office and almost a riot like situation was extremely unusual. But then, I'm not surprised. When you suddenly change all your senior leaders, you are going to have a problem," Mr Abdullah said. The BJP had released a list of 44 candidates for the three-phase election to 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, but deleted it and released a list with 15 names -- the candidates for the first phase.  The change followed a massive display of resentment from the local leaders. The list which was deleted, contained names of leaders who had switched over from the Congress, National Conference, PDP and Panthers Party.  "When you reward turncoats, you reward those

But that would require pauses in the fighting between Israel and Hamas, the World Health Organization and UNICEF said. They said they were planning two rounds of a vaccination campaign across the Gaza Strip, starting in late August, against type 2 poliovirus (cVDPV2). Last month, it was announced that type 2 poliovirus had been detected in environmental surveillance samples collected in Gaza on June 23.
